Below, you will find more details about the research area, requirements, benefits, and contact information for inquiries.

About the UC School of Veterinary Medicine

UC ranks among the top three universities in Latin America according to the QS Ranking, standing out for its academic excellence and impact on interdisciplinary research. The School of Veterinary Medicine is part of the Faculties of Medicine, Biological Sciences, and Agronomy and Natural Resources, which promote collaboration among various fields of knowledge, fostering an integral approach to scientific research.

Approach to the line of research in Sustainable Aquaculture

The research of the postdoctoral project will be focused on the impact that certain stressors and pathogen infection generate on gene regulation through epigenetic changes in salmon, how these changes modify the host-pathogen interaction in salmonids, and how the use of extracts of native algae with potential for sustainable multitrophic crops impacts the immune response against pathogens in stress contexts.

Benefits for the Selected Researcher:

  • Honorarium: 26MM$ annually for a maximum period of 2 years.
  • Installation Funding: Up to 2.5MM$ (year 1) for foreigners and Chileans returning to the country after completing their doctoral studies abroad.
  • Equipment and Investment: Up to 4.5MM$ (one-time, at the start of the project).
  • Operational Expenses: 6MM$ provided by the Hosting Academic Units (School of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Biological Sciences) and projects of the sponsoring researchers.
  • UC Postdoctoral Researcher Appointment: Access to facilities, equipment, and resources available at SVM.

Obligations of the Selected Researcher:

  • Accomplish specific tasks of the postdoctoral project
  • Conduct research at SVM – UC San Joaquín Campus.
  • Apply for the FONDECYT Postdoctoral competition in 2025.
